Personal information changes even though I entered it correctly

My information changes after I save. My apartment number changes after I save, even though I type it in correctly for my college application. Also the date when I graduated high school also changes. I want to submit accurate information, but the system is keeping me from doing so. I try to go in and edit, but it will not save due to an error - “unable to save due to an invalid character in your username”
